Guest post: Sasuke: Good or Evil???
Ok, if you watch the English episodes of Naruto, then you might be asking the same question, does Sasuke still belong to other hidden leaf ninjas, or deep down inside he is truly evil? Personally, Sasuke is not one of my favorite characters, and even though the rescue team only looks for him for one season (season 5), it is very suspense-full when you are watching. Its nice to think that despite, his attempted murder of Naruto, leaf ninjas together Naruto are still risking their lives to save him. What do you think of all of this? Do you like Sasuke as a character? Does he really belong to good side, or evil side???

My thoughts:
Much like you, I also don’t like Sasuke. But I think he still belongs to good side no matter what. His sole purpose of joining Orochimaru is to seek for power because he wants to take revenge to Itachi. If you noticed on the first time they met, Itachi told Sasuke “Omae wa yowai”. Means, “You are weak.” And starting that moment, Sasuke wanted to become stronger. Now he has his allies but obviously he’s just using them. He once said, he formed his group so there will be someone to face people who interfere him while he looks for Itachi. On the other way, his allies, Mizugetsu, Yuugu and Karin, benefits from him as well. Thanks. nice thoughts you have there.

interesting. I like Sasuke in Shippuuden much more then in part 1. Fans are prejuduiced against him because he’s so snobby but he looks and is cooler in shippuuden. I think that Sasuke is good, but in his lust for power he doesn’t care where he gets it from. So those are my thoughts. Comments?

sasuke actually were a bad guy, but when he saw naruto and then realize that there was a person like him in the word little by little he was getting good, but he realized either that it take him away from his objective (revenge) so he deliberately trow himself at bad side, so he could get power from Orichimaru. I cant wait to see naruto vs sasuke again I wonder if naruto will fight against him even whit sasuke dont caring whit their friendship anymore

Sasuke is way better in Shipuuden and he’s good you guys. He used Oro to his advantage so he could kill someone evil, Itachi.
He out-smarted Oro. But, I still question why he tried to kill Naruto. Maybe he thought about it now and has changed his mind about killing Naruto.

He tried to kill Naruto because he needed the sharingan you can only get by killling

i used to like sasuke untill he acted all pig headed and tried to kill naruto it was so sad. by the way did he ever mend his friendship with naruto? i hope so, becaus you never realy Know on the movie

sasuke left the village only to achive power so that he can get revenge by killing his brother. so he joined orochimaru. so far he has done nothing so much wrong. but later he killed orochimaru when he was weak, he killed itachi (actually itachi let him), his revenge was complete.
and now the main part that proves that he is not on the good side is the fact that he decided to destroy konoha along with its people.
actually, when someone goes to the wrong path, it is very hard for him to return, and every decision sasuke made was not correct. he left friends so that he can be stronger but naruto is as strong as him if not stronger being with friends. then he killed his brother who was trying to save him from the very starting. later instead of realizing his fault, sasuke decides to destroy konoha which is another wrong decision as it will cause destruction and lifes of so many people and peace was the reason that caused itachi to sacrifice everything.
actually there is not much difference between orochimaru and sasuke, both killed their sensei, oro killed 3rd and sasuke killed oro (though oro was bad, but it was sasuke who decided to go with him, afterall he killed his master)
so it is quite obvious that sasuke is not on the good side any more because all he believe is sacrificing everyone for his own pleasure (he can call it revenge), but there is still chance that he may come back. till then sasuke is pure evil.

Sasuke is a good guy ya know. Think bout it, if u were on his position would you just return to the village that destroys your entire family n clan. I won’t do that, I’ll do what Sasuke does. I’ll massacre the village that massacres my clan. It’s only fair after all Konoha is part of Senjuu. Uchiha is only being manipulated by Senjuu all along. Konoha deserves to be destroyed. Sasuke is a PROTAGONIST (to me at least). Konoha is the ANTAGONIST and Naruto still doesn’t realize he’s being foolishly used by Konoha.
I don’t get it if Sasuke is his friend than why don’t he ask Sasuke’s reason as why does he wants Konoha destruction. Naruto is SELFISH.

Another fact is that Naruto if he really is Sasuke’s friend is a really selfish person. I mean if Sasuke don’t want to return than let him go. Naruto is just a foolish fool who foolishly tries to do the impossible, make an Uchiha join Konoha. Konoha is now 100% under Senjuu’s rule, there’s no way Sasuke is joining them, he’ll destroy Konoha. So YES Uchiha is good, Senjuu is bad .

I totally agree with Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Sasuke is not evil Konaha used Itachi and destroyed the whole uchicha clan for peace, Itachi was a traitor he took all that blame and hate to protect Sasuke, if i was in Sasuke’s postion i would do the same COMPLETE AND UTTER DESTRUCTION OF KONAHA for using my brother….

Hmm…
Knowing how manga’s and anime’s go, Sasuke might be good in the end (end meaning either right before he dies and he gives up his life for Naruto, or after all this chaos is over). I don’t like him either, but I understand his character completely.
Sasuke is driving by instinct. From the very childhood, he was the epitome of innocence. His world revolved around his family, his brother, and getting stronger. That was what ninjas would consider “good”.
Later, though, after seeing his parents dieing bloodily by his brother that he’s loved and admired for so long, trauma, depression, confusion and anger seeped in. Remember, he was only 7 at this time.
This deep hatred lasted for the longest time, which, if you understand how the human brain works, is totally understandable based on his part.
At one point, amidst his anger and confusion, he seemed to be quite happy around his teamates. Yet, the “hatred” of Itachi took over his mind when Orochimaru gave him the curse mark. Sasuke was 12 now. Orochimaru was a 50 year old man; obviously he would be able to easily brainwash a young boy of this age.
Before he left, however, he said “thank you” to Sakura, he mentioned to Naruto once that he “didn’t want anyone close to him” to die, and some other things. These prove that he did indeed have some feelings for his teamates. One huge evidence was him glancing once more at the Team 7 photo before heading off to Otogakure (sp?).
I could go on and on. When he said the “utter destruction of the leaf village” he most likely meant the elders. Remember, he had a Konoha-hating group and Madara/Tobi with him; he would have too say something as dramatic as this to get them to agree. If he said elders, they would be probably slightly less enthusiatic. Also, Konoha did get destroyed, and it was not even Sasuke that did it.
As you can see, Sasuke, if none of this had ever happened to him, would be a regular Konoha ninja. But, that’s the point of the twist in plot, to make him more interesting! He isn’t/wasn’t ever “evil”. He is an anti-hero, yes, but not evil. MAYBE he will turn good, but then again, maybe he’ll die just like that.

Sasuke’s an idiot, Itachi should’ve killed him too, even though he killed the clan for the sake of the village. Also, let it be known, he didn’t want to kill everyone, but he enlisted some help because he couldn’t kill all the Uchiha by himself, so he requested… Madara Uchiha. Who then proceded to kill everyone, including Shisui, which Itachi managed to see, therefore gaining the Mangekyo Sharigan.

I think Sasuke is not innately evil, but tends to make the wrong decisions bec he’s corrupted with his lust for power in order to gain vengeance. Given his experiences since he was a child, his “evil side” is definitely justifiable and plausible.
To answer your question: yes, he may be somewhat evil, but he has a good side.
Not related though: I believe that Sasuke battling Naruto is inevitable. I could see in the end that Sasuke will finally see the light and steer clear of his evil side. The question lies on whether he’s gonna live or die with it.

I’m sorry, how many people missed the whole “stabbing his loyal follower, while openly saying she’s dead weight”. And then what he does to Sakura.
To quote a summary on TV Tropes “Oh, sure you can join my Team Evil, Sakura. Now, just to make sure you’re evil enough to be my medic, kill the othe- BACKSTAB! (Cares for nobody but himself and his revenge)”
Lots of people are defending him, saying his revenge is validated. Have you all missed the whole point of Nagato’s death? Of how Naruto GOT OVER WANTING REVENGE! And the fact is only some of Konoha’s higher ups ordered the Massacre. Do you really think the 3rd would do that? Completely contrary to how he was portrayed?
If it acts like an evil dog, looks like an evil dog and sounds like an evil dog, its an evil dog!
I don’t mean to go on, but blaming everything around him is foolish “Its not HIS fault he acts like a villain, its because of what happened to him!” That is what every villain is. No one is innately evil, they are shaped by the world around them yet they must still be punished or at least treated in some way to prevent them from hurting others. Sasuke might have suffered, but he’s made it balantly clear that he considers HIS pain, HIS revenge more important than anything. No one else’s suffering could be as GREAT as his, HE’S suffered the most so no one else matters.
And yes, Naruto might be trying to force the issue, but considering Sasuke betrayed the Hidden Leaf, aiding their enemies and harming their ninja he may have case for bring him back. But, and this is important, so he can be PUNISHED!
Naruto might have major themes about redemption and getting over revenge, but it also shows that just because they killed your puppy, murdering all their pets doesn’t make you justified, you can’t get away with evil because another did evil to you. Its makes you exactly the same as them, and just as deserving of punishment.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is why Sasuke is EVIL!
